Your Bio

Hi my name is Gerry Ward I live in Paisley Scotland,I have been interested in photography most of my life, but a few years ago I gave up the darkroom for the computer.
I miss my old fashioned cameras and I do miss the thrill of watching prints appear before your eyes, and the smell of bromide paper! But I never will go back as digital has given me more creative freedom than traditional photography ever could.
I enjoy taking pictures of almost anything, but a good landscape probably gives me more pleasure than anything else, only problem is I take so few of them.I remember reading that the great American photographer Ansel Adams once said that he was happy to take twelve good photographs a year,if only I could ....

Clyde Shipping : The River Clyde was once famous through out the world for its shipbuilding, sadly the shpyards have all but gone and her docks filled in and fancy shops and houses built on them.
I enjoy photographing what few ships we get these days, one thing the Clyde has in its favour is its beauty, the Firth of Clyde is very scenic place .

A Vision of Ships : I enjoy taking photographs of ships and boats and living fairly close to the River Clyde I dont have to travel that far to enjoy a bit of ship spotting!

Often bright and colourfull and at times of a sizeable tonnage they make interesting subjects for photographers.

In this gallery I have altered the photographs so at times rather than a straight record shot the viewer is presented with an impressionistic view concentrating on line and colour.

Altered Images : The great thng about digital photography is the ability to change the appearance of an image dramatically.
When I take pictures these days I no longer see things as a conventional photographer,I know that with the appropriate software I can create something far more interesting,I am no longer bound by the conventional rules of photography .

Street Photography : A collection of candids which I have taken over a period of twenty years,I no longer take people pictures as I feel it is now unsafe,as people tend view photographers with suspicion.

The majority of my candids were taken in the city centre of Glasgow.
